The place
Originally an agricol land that we transformed into a green space campsite, and finally, since 2016 in a genuine 3 stars campsite… that has remained unspoiled ever since!
On one hectare, 5 terraced platforms define the spaces and pitches, from the reception area to the garden and small wood.
Here the vegetation, the wood and the mineral are the decor. Gradually, we have imagined and fitted out this space by integrating unique constructions, chosen for their quality, their durability and their landscape integration.
Many of these facilities were designed and built on site with local wood and recycled or diverted recycled materials. From the terraces to the cladding, from the stone bench to the hook where your towel hangs, we have spent time attending to the details and the aesthetics of the space.
Located at 3 km from the village of Les Vans, at the entrance of Gravières, the campsite is spread over one hectare under the slopes of the Serre de Barre, majestic peak of the Ceven Parc.
At the start of many hikes of remarkable diversity between garrigue and mountains. Close to the river and classified natural sites, La Châtaigneraie welcomes you to discover our beautiful land.
Independent in our choice of facilities and marketing, without joining a chain or a group, we manage the campsite for two, as a couple.
The river
Or better, the rivers! The Chassezac river, accessible on foot or by bike from the campsite by a quiet path. It extends over beautiful swimming pools bordered by flat rock beaches, before joining the limestone gorges, south of Les Vans. The river can also be discovered by canoe.
In the valley upstream, at the gates of the Cevennes Piemont, the wild tributaries of La Thine, La Borne, Roujanel, are appreciated by explorers and fishermen.
Known or more secret, everyone can find their favorite spot for play, bathing, spa, activity and tranquility along the water.
The reception
Open from 8:30am to 1:00pm and 3:00pm to 8:00pm
If you were wondering about all of the kilometers, the GPS routing errors, the bends and the beautiful landscape, you have made the right choice! The front desk will be your first connection upon your arrival.
Once you’re stettled in, you can come back as many times as necessary to find all the information, documentation and personalized advice useful for your stay.
We can book your reservation for your canoeing activities on the Chassezac or Ardèche rivers, and that of your guided canyoning, caving or climbing activities with our partners. And why not plan a yoga practice or a well-being massage during your stay?
Finally, this space, small but cozy, has beautiful choice of books, teenage children’s comics and games at your disposal.
The grocery store, café, little bar and brasero
Adjoining the reception, opening on a beautiful shaded terrace with benches, tables, armchairs and a hammock, this space is at your disposal with free Wi-Fi.
This is where you can have a quiet coffee every morning and pick up your order of baked goods and pastries placed the day before, or your basket ready for a gourmet breakfast. Kids of all ages love this assignment!
You will find regional and organic products, locally sourced.
A selection of organic fruit juices, beers and wines. Vegetable terrines and charcuterie to enhance your picnics. Exceptional honey from the Berger des abeilles, chestnut cream from our chestnuts cooked on site. And also organic vegetables from the neighboring farm on direct order. The amazing ice cream of Terre Adélice will enchant you.
Finally, once or twice a week, we turn on the large brazero for an evening around the fire where you can cook your produce and meals and choose to share the evening around the terrace of the bar. The conviviality of these moments together is always animated by the exchange of your beautiful shared energies, crossing paths with musicians and the sweetness of summer evenings.

Playgrounds and discovery areas
The play area for children extends to the small wood, a wild space to explore, imagine, meet up, make a cabin…
An organic garden cultivated in the rythm of the seasons. It can be shared and children can participate in its maintenance and some harvesting during your stays.
A ping-pong table, a shaded petanque court and a large space for ball games and badminton are also available.
The Inn, the restaurants
Adjoining the campsite, the Auberge de Gravières, with our friendly neighbors offers you simple and well-prepared country cuisine, with local products.
There is a vast range of restaurants and cuisine in Les Vans. For all wishes and budgets, from snacking to starred chefs, we will be happy to advise you.

The Park Values
Located in the heart of the Monts d’Ardèche Regional Natural Park, the campsite has been awarded this label since 2019.
To obtain and maintain it, the criteria of a selective specification based on customer service, the link to the land, the promotion of local products, incorporation into the landscape and the preservation of the environment.
We are very proud ambassadors of our beautiful region and we contribute as much as possible to departmental or regional studies and actions related to the preservation of the environment. In 2021, the campsite was a pilot site for the study of the black frame in the adaptation of night lighting to respect biodiversity.

Transportation
The village of Vans is accessible on foot by paths, a 40 mn walk or by bike on small roads. On site or with a prior reservation, you can rent bikes (see terms and conditions in Home Bike above).
The campsite has a Green-up charging station for hybrid or electric vehicles.
If you arrive in Les Vans by bus we can provide you with a shuttle to reach La Châtaigneraie.
